OPHTHALMIC REFERENCE, SHAPED FOR THE WRIST
EyeRef is a fully offline four-module reference and refraction toolkit for Pebble, Apple Watch and Wear OS. It brings CDR grading, Van Herick assessment, gonioscopy references and refraction calculations into a glanceable interface designed for touch, physical buttons and rotary input.
Rather than merely scaling one layout, EyeRef gives rectangular and round screens their own compositions. Essential text remains central, anatomical diagrams use the available display geometry, and the same navigation model runs across both platforms.

EyeRef began with a simple preference: as an ophthalmology trainee, I wanted something I could consult rather than another study system. It contains no drills, scores, reminders or spaced repetition. It behaves like a compact reference table: switch modules horizontally, move through pages vertically, and use focused controls for calculations.
A watch interface cannot simply be shrunk or cropped. For round screens, essential text stays within a central safe area while anatomical diagrams can use the wider middle of the display. The module header becomes a curved crown, the page rail becomes an inset arc, and refraction editing exposes one focused value with large minus and plus targets while keeping the surrounding prescription visible.
The same mental model runs through the app. Pebble remains fully navigable with physical buttons, while touch-enabled models add direct gestures and controls. On Wear OS, crown rotation provides precise page navigation.
All reference graphics and calculations run locally. EyeRef has no account, advertising, analytics or cloud service and is not designed to store patient data.
